8th World Congress on Oxidation Catalysis (WCOC 2017)

will be held in Krakow, Poland from the 3rd - 8th September 2017 with the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry PAS as the main organiser. WCOC 2017 will be organized jointly with XII European Workshop Meeting on Innovation in Selective Oxidation (ISO'17).

WCOC 2017 follows the series of meetings devoted to oxidation catalysis, which are organized every four years. The precedent congresses took place in Italy (Rimini, 1989), Spain (Benalmadena, 1993), USA (San Diego, 1997), Germany (Potsdam, 2001), Japan (Sapporo, 2005), France (Lille, 2009), and USA (Saint Louis, 2013).

European Workshop Meetings on Innovation in Selective Oxidation, known as ISO, are held every two years. The first one was held in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium in 1986, followed by workshops in Italy (Rimini, 1989), Belgium (Louvain-la-Neuve, 1991), Spain (Benalmadena, 1993 – jointly with WCOC), Germany (Berlin, 1995), Italy (Rimini, 1999 – as the post-congress symposium of EuropacatIV), Austria (Innsbruck, 2003 - within EuropaCatVII), Finland (Turku, 2007 - within EuropaCatVIII), France (Lille, 2009 – jointly with WCOC), UK (Glasgow, 2011 - within EuropaCatX), and Russia (Kazan, 2015 - within EuropaCatXII). When WCOC is organized in Europe, a joint WCOC and ISO meeting is organized.

Both conferences became the forum for researchers in the field of selective oxidation and oxide catalysts to gather and discuss new challenges and advances in these fields, as well as to generate new contacts and collaborations.

Please note that the congress will follow EuropaCat 2017 conference, which is scheduled for 27th August - 1st September 2017 in Florence, Italy. The main theme of the congress will be "Oxidation processes: challenges and solutions".

Lectures and posters will be organized into three sessions covering the following topics:

A. Fundamentals of oxidation catalysis

   1. Structure and properties relationship: experimental and theoretical approach
2. Dynamics of oxidation systems: kinetics and mechanisms
   3. Active species in oxidation reactions: molecular oxygen and alternative oxidants

B. New concepts in oxidation processes

   1. Novel catalysts: design and testing
   2. Oxidation reactions in fine and green chemistry
   3. Reactors: from nano to industrial scale

C. Catalytic oxidation in environmental protection

   1. Pollution abatement
   2. Alternative fuels
   3. Photo- and electrocatalysis

Selected contributions will be published, after standard peer-review procedures, in the special issue of Catalysis Today (Elsevier, IF = 4.312) devoted to 8th World Congress on Oxidation Catalysis.
